Yes, absolutely!

The signs in the hearing aid market are unequivocally pointing towards a revolution.

Hearing impairment rate in Austria

Hearing impairment is a widespread issue. In Austria alone, there are around 1.7 million people with hearing loss, of whom currently about 0.4 million use a hearing aid; the available technology is fortunately becoming increasingly intelligent, seamless, and connected.

The absolute magic word of the hour is Auracast. This new Bluetooth audio technology promises to massively simplify shared listening in public places, in front of the home television, or during lectures. But what does the current market situation look like and when will Auracast be the absolute standard in our ears? A look at the numbers shows a promising development.

A market in technological upheaval

Market share of hearing aid manufacturers

The global market, which is dominated 99 percent by five major manufacturers, is already fully committed to this innovation. While some players have already firmly integrated the technology into their latest devices, others are intensively preparing their hardware for it via updates.

Steep rise: The path to the new standard

The future prospects are impressive and show rapid growth. The technology will establish itself in a rapid pace in trade. By the year 2026, almost half of all newly sold hearing aids are expected to be directly equipped with Auracast.

Hearing aid sales with Auracast

The big breakthrough is just around the corner: By 2029, it is expected that almost every newly sold device will have the pioneering Auracast feature. This rapid progress is primarily driven by the fact that the leading developers are quickly integrating the technology into the cheaper entry-level and cash register segments to enable comprehensive supply.

When will we feel the change in everyday life?

As a high-quality hearing system is a loyal companion for several years and statistically about one in five users replaces their device in the sixth year with a new one, the technology is gradually spreading in daily life. But even here, progress is swift.

Outlook Auracast usage

By 2030, two-thirds of all active hearing aid users will already be using an Auracast-capable device. By 2033 at the latest, only the most modern devices with this function will be available in stores, so that after 2036, almost every user will be seamlessly and barrier-free connected. The new standard is therefore firmly at the door and brings genuine reason for anticipation!
