Auracast Systems
What is Auracast?
An Auracast system broadcasts audio as a broadcast or radio based on Bluetooth LE Audio: one transmitter, many receivers. It can provide one or more streams that listeners can select themselves without traditional pairing, ideal for multilingualism, assistive listening, and parallel content.
Step 1
An Auracast™ transmitter begins an Auracast™ broadcast that contains advertisements providing Auracast™ assistants with information about the broadcast (e.g. name, content, codec configuration, etc.) as well as one or more audio streams (e.g. left and right stereo audio streams).
Step 2
Auracast™ assistants search for Auracast™ advertisements and provide a user interface (UI) through which the user can select an Auracast™ transmission they wish to join, similar to the UI typically used for connecting to Wi-Fi networks in public spaces.
Step 3
Once an Auracast™ broadcast has been selected, the Auracast™ assistant provides the Auracast™ receiver (e.g. headphones, earphones, hearing aids, etc.) with the information it needs to join the Auracast™ broadcast.
Summitwave Transmitter
An Auracast transmitter is the central component of an Auracast system: It feeds audio signals from the existing audio infrastructure and transmits them as one or more broadcast streams to any number of receivers. Our Auracast transmitter is called TX, and is designed for fixed operation in professional installations or optimised in the tour version for mobile event technology.
Summitwave Receiver
An Auracast receiver receives the broadcast streams from an Auracast transmitter and reliably outputs the selected audio channel. Our receiver is called RX: It allows for easy stream selection and is intended for professional use where a dedicated, robust reception solution is more sensible than a smartphone. Various applications in the silent conferencing area or interpreter scenarios are possible.
