The usual answer was a dedicated system for every format. One receiver stock for conferences, another for tours and an induction loop for accessibility. Three systems, three purchases and three maintenance contracts.
Auracast brings these together: one transmitter, several streams and one receiver stock.

Conferences with parallel sessions
Three tracks in one hall. Anyone who wants to change selects another channel, not another room. This reduces room requirements and makes programme planning less dependent on the floor plan.
Interpretation and multilingual events
Original audio and several languages from one transmitter. The receiver displays the channel name in plain text, without an app. For guests who do not speak the conference language, that is the difference between taking part and merely being present.
Guided tours
Factory tours, museums and city tours. Wherever loudspeakers are not permitted, not practical or not audible. Several language groups can follow the same tour.
Rental operations
An Auracast receiver stock works with any Auracast installation, including a fixed system supplied by someone else. A system-specific accessory becomes a universal operational asset.
Three steps, no staff training
1 · Prepare. The receivers go into the dock. It charges and programmes four devices at the same time: the stream is assigned once for the group, not separately on every receiver.
2 · Distribute. Hand them out at the entrance. Two buttons, one display and the channel name in plain text. No account, no app and no introduction.
3 · Collect. Return them to the dock. The next event starts with charged and programmed receivers.
Event staff can run this process without dedicated training. In practice, this is where systems fail, not in the audio signal.

And the other half
The same transmitter that carries the English interpretation also reaches hearing aids.
Auracast hearing aids and cochlear implants receive the stream directly. Guests without a compatible device use an RX with an inductive neckloop – the same receiver stock already used for interpretation.
What previously required two systems, two budgets and two procurement processes now runs on one.
Transmitter and receiver
Summitwave TX – the transmitter. Up to six parallel Auracast streams from one device. Two balanced analogue inputs and optional Dante. TX6DT Tour Series is the mobile model for tours and conferences: six streams, Dante and 2 × XLR.
Summitwave RX – the loan receiver. Two buttons, a display and up to 24 hours of operation. Channel selection in plain text, with no smartphone required. An optional inductive neckloop supports hearing aids without Auracast.
In Quality Control mode, the same receiver becomes a measurement tool. We use it to check actual room coverage before designing the system.
Buy rather than rent
We sell the system. You own it, you can plan around it and you do not have to ask whether receivers are available on the date of your event.
That is the difference in silent conferencing. Rental stocks are scarce on the dates when many organisations need them. Your own stock never is.

What Auracast cannot do
Six speech channels, yes. Six music channels, no. A high-quality stereo stream uses a large share of the available airtime. Mono speech needs considerably less. Six speech channels are realistic; six music channels are not.
Latency is not an argument for Auracast. Analogue UHF radio and infrared transmit with practically no delay. Auracast is digital and therefore slower. It remains lip-synchronised for a stage, film or presentation, but that is not an advantage.
There is no return channel. Broadcast means that audio travels in one direction. A guided tour that requires questions from the group needs an additional microphone.
It is not the right system for a silent disco. Unit cost matters there, and the coloured LED on the headphones is part of the format. We build systems for conferences, interpretation and guided tours. Other technologies are a better answer for parties.
Frequently asked questions
How many channels are actually possible?
A Summitwave TX transmits up to six streams in parallel. That is realistic for mono speech. Several high-quality stereo streams reduce the available number because airtime is limited. We calculate this for your format.
Do guests need a smartphone?
No. RX selects the channel with two buttons and displays its name in plain text. A smartphone is only required when someone wants to use their own Auracast earbuds.
How far does one transmitter reach?
The technical range is around 100 metres. What remains in a real room depends on walls, metal, glass and occupied seating. We therefore measure every room with an RX in Quality Control mode before planning the system. For larger areas, a second transmitter is usually a better answer than more power: several transmitter cells carry the same content and the receiver moves between them automatically.
Can the transmission be encrypted?
A stream can be encrypted with a Broadcast Code and protected by AES-128. Without the four- to sixteen-character code, the stream can be found but not heard. Open and encrypted channels run in parallel on the same transmitter. This is part of the standard, not an additional option.
How long does distribution take for 200 guests?
The receivers are programmed in the dock before the event. Distribution at the entrance is therefore one handover, not a configuration task. Collection takes more effort than distribution.
Buy or rent?
We sell and do not offer rental ourselves. For a one-off requirement, we connect you with a provider. Ownership provides reliable availability: your own receiver stock is never booked out.
Can guests use their own headphones?
Guests with Auracast earbuds can receive an open stream. This should not determine capacity planning: only the equipment you distribute yourself is reliably available.
